Pupils from Knowetop Primary School, in Motherwell, recently visited Fir Park as park of a NHS Lanarkshire healthy eating project.
‘Eat with the Players’ was developed by NHS Lanarkshire’s Health Promotion Department in partnership with Motherwell Football Club.
Each week pupils from Lanarkshire schools are invited to visit Motherwell F.C. The visit includes a guided tour of Fir Park Stadium followed by a healthy lunch in the players lounge and the opportunity to meet some of the players and management of Motherwell F.C.
Clare Malone, Health Promotion Officer, said; “The main aim of the project is to use the players as role models to encourage young people to eat a healthy balanced diet and to increase their level of physical activity.
“I would like to thank Motherwell FC for supporting this project which has allowed us to emphasise the importance of combining exercise with healthy meals to pupils throughout Lanarkshire."
Motherwell manager, Jim Gannon, said: "We are delighted be involved in this initiative, it is a great way of encouraging children to eat healthy meals.
“This exciting experience is not only fun for the children but also helps to promote the benefits to young people of adopting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
