Lorna honoured in Children's Choice Awards
Coatbridge Health Spot co-ordinator Lorna Shearer received a finalists' award at the 2008 Children’s Choice Awards by Scotland’s Children’s Commissioner.
'We had a great night walking the red carpet and celebrating the stories of many conscientious youth workers'
Lorna, who was recommended by two young people who visit the Health Spot, was chosen from 250 entrants.
Although she didn’t win the main prize she was delighted to have received the honour as one of the six finalists.
Says Lorna: "We had a great night walking the red carpet and celebrating the stories of many conscientious youth workers. The young people who nominated me came along too and we had a fantastic evening".
The awards were presented by Kathleen Marshall, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People, and Bronwen Cohen, chief executive of Children in Scotland, at a special event at the CCA in Glasgow on Thursday 13th March.
Youth Health Advisory Group - get involved
NHS Lanarkshire’s Community Health Partnership, in conjunction with Community Learning & Development, North Lanarkshire Council is establishing a group of young people across North Lanarkshire to form a Youth Health Advisory Group which will feed directly into NHS Lanarkshire.

We are always looking for young people aged 14 - 25 from across North Lanarkshire to take part in this group.
The Youth Heath Advisory Group has been meeting since May 2008.
