What is a Vascular Disease?

Diseases of the arteries, veins or lymphatic system are collectively known as vascular diseases.

Arteries carry blood away from the heart to the rest of the body, veins bring the blood back to the heart, and the lymphatic system drains fluid from the tissues. In practical terms a vascular service provides care for patients with diseases of the blood vessels outside the heart, lungs and brain cavity.
