The Role of the Occupational Therapy Department
Occupational Therapy is part of the Community Learning Disability Service.
We are based at Kirklands Hospital in Bothwell and cover the whole of North & South Lanarkshire.
We work with individuals over 16 years who have a learning disability, focusing on every aspect of their daily life.
Our aim is to enable individuals to be as independent as possible.
We work in a range of settings, including family homes, individual’s own home, community based facilities and residential care settings.
We carry out both individual and group work. In addition we provide consultation/advice and training for carers, family, health professionals, support workers and other agencies involved with the individual.
