Anti-arrhythmics
(Flecainide, amiodarone, verapamil, disopyramide, digoxin)
Different groups of drugs work in different ways to correct various irregular rhythms of the heart. Digoxin improves your heart’s pumping action and also makes sure your heart does not beat too fast
Patients starting on Digoxin should have regular blood tests to ensure you have the correct amount in your system. Too much can make you feel sick, too little and your heart does not benefit from it
Too much Digoxin may also cause a loss of appetite or your heart might slow too much, leaving you feeling tired, dizzy and lacking energy
Other possible side effects may include diarrhoea, painful or enlarged breasts, a rash or skin irritation or palpitations. If you are having any of these side effects please tell your GP
