Hospital-based Services - Introduction
People can have contact with Lanarkshire's hospital cardiology (heart) services in a number of ways:
- When their GP refers them to a Cardiologist for specialist assessment of their heart
- When they have been in hospital with a heart attack and return for rehabilitation and to check all is well
- When an emergency arises and they are admitted to the hospital’s special coronary care unit.
These pages provide information on all the hospital-based services for patients with coronary heart disease from the surgery carried out on a patient’s heart in Hairmyres Cardiology Centre to the special exercise and rehabilitation classes for patients who have had a heart attack.
