Mental Health First Aid
Aim:
Mental health first aid is the help given to someone experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is obtained.
This course does not teach people to be therapists, but to recognise symptoms, provide initial help and how to guide a person towards suitable professional help.
Learning Outcomes:
- To preserve life.
- Provide help to prevent the mental health problem developing into a more serious state.
- Promote the recovery of good mental health.
- Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem.
Target Group:
Ambulance service staff, police force, prison service, jobcentre plus, primary health and social care staff, further and higher education, support workers and generally anyone who has an interest in mental health issues. You do not need a health background to attend this course.
