Falls Assessment

Aim:

Raise awareness of the many factors which contribute to falls in older people and identify measures which can be taken to modify risk.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the social and financial cost of falls in the elderly.
  • Discuss fall risk factors and the falls risk assessment tool.
  • Demonstrate an increased knowledge of osteoporosis.
  • Discuss the role of the multidisciplinary team and the practical aspects of falls management.
  • Demonstrate an increased confidence in dealing with clients who fall.

Target Group:

Health care assistants and social care staff who are in contact with older people at risk of falls and fractures.
