We held our last patient and carer event on Saturday 25 October 2008 in the Timecapsule, Coatbridge. The day was aimed at children and young people with diabetes and had a wide range of information and entertainment.
Diabetes health professionals, local council and voluntary organisations delivered a range of information stands including retinal screening, podiatry, dietetics, transitional services, insulin pumps, sports and leisure information, diabetes support groups and lots more.
We also had a range of activities to make the day more fun and enjoyable for young people including storytelling, puppetry, hair and makeup advice, Wii games, a live band, samples of sports including golf, mini tennis, cycling, and judo, and lots more...
This year autumn will bring our next patient and carer event which will focus on adults with diabetes. Plans are currently underway and we hope this will be just as successful as previous events.
