How many people in Lanarkshire have diabetes?

The 2005 Scottish Diabetes Survey (source: SCI-DC national system) showed that 19,243 people in Lanarkshire (3.5% of the population) were known to have diabetes. The split was 14.1% Type 1 and 84.7% Type 2. Just over half of the people with diabetes were male (54.5%) and two thirds (66.6%) were aged between 45 and 74.
