Who are we?

We are children's nurses who work throughout Lanarkshire for children in the community setting.

The team consists of:

  • Community Children's Nurses
    Provide care for children aged 0-16 years and their families who require the support of a Community Children's Nurse with a specific focus on children with complex care needs.
  • Respiratory Nurse Specialist
    Children aged 0-16 years and their families who have asthma or any other respiratory condition, and are under the care of the hospital service.
  • Diabetes Nurse Specialist
    All children in Lanarkshire with diabetes until they reach age to transfer to adult services.
  • Epilepsy nurse Specialist
    All children in Lanarkshire with confirmed epilepsy until they reach age to transfer to adult services.

Services provided:

  • Education and Training to children, their families, health, education, social work and voluntary personnel
  • Care co-ordination
  • Emotional support
  • Advocacy
  • Practical support
  • Information resource

Hours of Service:

Monday - Friday 09.00-17.00 hours

(there may be agreed flexibility to meet the needs of the service)

Out-with these hours, should you have any concerns about your child, please contact your GP's out of hours service or NHS 24 Tel: 0845 24 24 24.

Children with Diabetes should contact the Paediatric Registrar on call via Wishaw General Hospital Tel: 01698 361100.

Please note:

The service has been joined by school nurses for special educational needs schools.
