More about Coatbridge
Local mums (including ante-natal mums) are benefiting from the re-launch of the Coatbridge Breastfeeding Support Group.
All breastfeeding mums are welcome to the group which offers a sociable, friendly place to get breastfeeding advice and support.
There will be an opportunity to enjoy a beauty treatment from a trained beauty therapist e.g. manicure, facial or make up advice, as well as the chance to learn a skill such as baby massage. Fresh fruit and refreshments will be available.
Breastfeeding gives babies the best possible start in life and the health benefits last into adulthood. To ensure more mums and babies in the area experience these benefits, staff are dedicated to improving breastfeeding rates and enabling breastfeeding to become part of everyday life.
Breastfeeding groups are a great way for women to socialise while accessing advice and support from Health Visitors.
The Health Centre received the first stage of a Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative award (Certificate of Commitment) in recognition of the work they have done to promote and support breastfeeding in the area and are currently working towards full accreditation, which is recognised globally.
Although breastfeeding is welcomed in all areas of Coatbridge Health Centre (where children are already allowed) a room has been set aside for mothers who may wish to breastfeed in private.
Please ask a member of staff to direct you to the Breastfeeding Room.
