FIRST DIRECT employee Janice McDade gave a hearty thanks to the Braveheart nursing team after a routine health check convinced her to change her lifestyle.

Janice took up the offer of a health check when the Braveheart nurses visited the First Direct call centre in Hamilton.

Braveheart nurses conduct health screenings to identify the symptoms or causes of potential coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes. These conditions are preventable by making lifestyle changes such as stopping smoking, eating healthily and taking regular exercise.

The nursing team detected Janice’s high blood pressure and cholesterol levels which would have had a serious effect on her health. After visiting her GP for further tests, Janice took up regular exercise and has significantly improved her heart health.

Janice (38) from East Kilbride said: “I’ve got the Braveheart nurses to thank for my health. I didn’t feel ill so I would never have thought that anything was wrong with my blood pressure and cholesterol levels. I was a walking timebomb.”

It just shows how small changes within your hectic lifestyle can have a dramatic impact to improve your life. Janice is a fine ambassador for our serviced and has not only made changes for herself she has included the family within the changes too.

“Since that first health check, I joined a women’s running club and have completed three 10K runs in the past year.”
