Hospital Routine
You may find yourself wishing the day did not start quite so early in hospital, but there is always a lot to be done in the wards. You may also find that the day ends earlier than you are used to, but rest can be important if people are to get well as quickly as possible.
No Smoking
Since 1 August 2008, smoking has been banned in all NHS Lanarkshire grounds.
It means people are no longer allowed to light-up anywhere inside NHS Lanarkshire premises or within its grounds – including areas around hospital, clinic and health centre entrances, and in vehicles parked on NHS premises.
The revised policy reinforces NHS Lanarkshire’s aim of promoting and protecting the health of both the public and NHS staff. If you want to stop smoking, call our helpline on 08452 17 77 07. You can also text ‘Advice’ to 81066.
Visiting
Please check with nursing staff about visiting times in your ward.
Telephones
Please ask nursing staff about the trolley pay telephone which is available in all wards for your use. Telephones are also available through Monklands Hospitals Patientline service. Please do not use mobile phones as their use can interfere with medical equipment.
Religious Services
The hospital chaplains visit the wards regularly. If you want them to visit you, please let the ward staff know. Your own chaplain can visit you at any time. The hospital has a multi-faith centre of worship. If you want to go to any of the services, please tell the ward staff who will let you know the times.
